Excellent start to a new series。。。Mind blowing action and intrigue。 Strong and daring characters。 Great plot and storyline。 Fast-paced and unputdownable read。 Cora moves to New Orleans for a new start。 Running as fast as possible from her past but it's not so easy when her talents are needed to rescue a kidnapped girl。 The undeniable chemistry between her and Talan, The Demon lord, is delicious to read。 Highly recommended read and author。 Linsey Hall never disappoints。 Excellent start to a new series。。。Mind blowing action and intrigue。 Strong and daring characters。 Great plot and storyline。 Fast-paced and unputdownable read。 Cora moves to New Orleans for a new start。 Running as fast as possible from her past but it's not so easy when her talents are needed to rescue a kidnapped girl。 The undeniable chemistry between her and Talan, The Demon lord, is delicious to read。 Highly recommended read and author。 Linsey Hall never disappoints。 。。。more

I like stories with heroines who have powers and do not let themselves be stopped to fight evil and the style of this author pleases me。 Cora has something that worries her, and she is trying to leave her past behind and start a new life without anyone having control over her。 I found Talan's character interesting, powerful, intriguing, overwhelming and 。。。 understanding! A mixture that is usually out of the ordinary for a demon character。 Cora's struggle with her attraction to Talan keeps me guessing because the feelings are strong, and Talan is going to have to fight hard to break through the barriers that Cora has put up upon herself。 I really liked how the plot flows and the suspense is maintained by the action, the intriguing situations and the secondary characters that contribute to the story, add mystery and even humor。 A very good selection and it would be worth keeping them in mind for future stories。 This is the first book and doesn't end with a cliffhanger。 Good! I'm curious to see what is going to happen with Cora next and what surprise the author has in store for us。 I voluntarily reviewed this interesting and entertaining story。 。。。more

“I adored everything that was meant to shorten my lifespan。” -From City of Night4 starsA great urban fantasy start to a series with a slightly prickly heroine you will learn to love。 I love some of the paranormal elements, and the cat。 It started out really strong for me, but thought the middle lagged a little。 I really wished the bookstore element was utilized, hopefully it will make an appearance in future books! A big thank you to NetGalley and Bonnie Dunn Press for the ARC。 I am voluntarily reviewing this book。 I really enjoyed this book。 I loved the characters, and I have always thought New Orleans was a cool place。 I found this to be an interesting and different read。 She got really lucky with her group of friends。 4 stars I will definitely keep this on my watch list for the next book。

The book was definitely worth finishing。 It took me a while to warm up to Cora。 She was rude and stand offish to everyone and once you finally learn why she seemed to flip and be nice。 It was too stark a difference right away for me, but eventually her inner dialogue seemed to acknowledge it and she seemed better developed。 I do like this new world Linsey is building, it reminds me more of the firesouls stories。 I loved the side characters who become Coras group and I did start to really like th The book was definitely worth finishing。 It took me a while to warm up to Cora。 She was rude and stand offish to everyone and once you finally learn why she seemed to flip and be nice。 It was too stark a difference right away for me, but eventually her inner dialogue seemed to acknowledge it and she seemed better developed。 I do like this new world Linsey is building, it reminds me more of the firesouls stories。 I loved the side characters who become Coras group and I did start to really like the Demon Lord by the end of the book and like him with Cora。 You gotta love a guy that ends up helping a cat be happy。 I look forward to reading the rest of Cora’s stories and hope we see a spin off from some of her new friends too。 。。。more

Well what can I say。 Linsey Hall does it again! The main character Cora is sassy, sneaky and I really liked her spunk。 Right from the beginning the book draws you into her story and doesn’t let you go until the end。 I can’t wait for the 2nd book in the series to see how her friendships develop with the other characters as I really liked them also。I don’t want to put any spoilers in so I’ll leave it at that and just say that you need to grab a copy for yourself and settle in for a fantastic read。 Well what can I say。 Linsey Hall does it again! This is first rate entertaining, kickass female lead, fantasy。 Cora has come to New Orleans to take procession of an inheritance, her mother’s bookstore。 And to escape her past。 She has killer skills and is not willing to be beholden to anyone anymore。 She is going to find friends, challenges and maybe a whole lot more than she expected。 Thank you to Bonnie Doon Press, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and NetGalley for the ARC。 The views expressed are all mine, freely given。

This is a action packed fantasy。 There are numerous magical beings throughout the story。 It’s exciting and entertaining。 It keeps you on the edge of your seat to see how Cora, a new neighbor in the city。 Turn out the Boss of the city is Talan。 He’s a demon trying to make a place demons could live in peace, at a price。 There’s hints of romance as well。 I can’t wait to read the next book in this series by Ms Hall。

I quite enjoy this style of urban fantasy, I liked Cora and Talan and the other surrounding characters a lot。 Initially it took me a little while to warm to Cora, but I got there as she herself relaxed a little。 I also appreciated how she was motivated and I'm interested to see more of her story and background unfold。 I like that the romance was slow burn and low key, no insta love but maybe lost a little for the 'fatedness' of the pairing - it wasn't necessary and the chemistry I think would ha I quite enjoy this style of urban fantasy, I liked Cora and Talan and the other surrounding characters a lot。 Initially it took me a little while to warm to Cora, but I got there as she herself relaxed a little。 I also appreciated how she was motivated and I'm interested to see more of her story and background unfold。 I like that the romance was slow burn and low key, no insta love but maybe lost a little for the 'fatedness' of the pairing - it wasn't necessary and the chemistry I think would have come together without the idea of 'mates' being inserted。 I liked that there was a happy ending, the violence matched the story and characters and wasn't too gratuitous。 * Book received for free through NetGalley in return for an honest review。 。。。more

I just finished this series starter by this author, and it is probably my favorite of hers so far。 I know I say that every time, but it’s always true。 This latest has Cora with a very hard past, and she has moved to escape that past。 She meets Talan, and his past is filled with as much heartache as his。 As such, I think it’s going to be a hard road for both of them。 I quite enjoyed this well-written, fun adventure, and I am ready to learn more about Cora, her new friends, and all of their pasts。 I just finished this series starter by this author, and it is probably my favorite of hers so far。 I know I say that every time, but it’s always true。 This latest has Cora with a very hard past, and she has moved to escape that past。 She meets Talan, and his past is filled with as much heartache as his。 As such, I think it’s going to be a hard road for both of them。 I quite enjoyed this well-written, fun adventure, and I am ready to learn more about Cora, her new friends, and all of their pasts。 Highly recommend。 I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed。 。。。more

Cora inherits her mother's bookshop in New Orleans。 Only this isn't the New Orleans you know, it is an urban fantasy version that is ruled by demons, witches, vampires and shifters who stay hidden from the humans via charms and spells。Cora has a dark past。 She has no interest in paying protection to the demon lord, Talan, who is over the area of the city where the bookshop is located。There is a missing girl, hidden talents, and the interesting discovery of this version of New Orleans。I enjoyed t Cora inherits her mother's bookshop in New Orleans。 Only this isn't the New Orleans you know, it is an urban fantasy version that is ruled by demons, witches, vampires and shifters who stay hidden from the humans via charms and spells。Cora has a dark past。 She has no interest in paying protection to the demon lord, Talan, who is over the area of the city where the bookshop is located。There is a missing girl, hidden talents, and the interesting discovery of this version of New Orleans。I enjoyed the mystery of finding the missing girl and getting to know a new protagonist。Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to view an ebook prior to publication。 。。。more

I enjoyed this fast paced book of Cora and Talan。 Their connection was giving off slow burn, respectful, protector (not no need because she is bad ass) vibes, I loved how Cora was strong enough to stand up for what she wanted and not afraid to say it, especially to Talan。 This had suspense, mystery and some ghost hauntings all based in New Orleans。 Can’t wait to keep reading this series and see where Cora and Talan end up。
